KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): Auditor-General Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid (pictured) has tested positive for Covid-19, according to a National Audit Department internal memo sighted by theedgemarkets.com.
“Please be informed that I tested positive for Covid-19 today, and will be quarantined in hospital,” Nik Azman said in a memo to the department’s deputy auditor-generals and director of the management sector yesterday.
“To ensure that tasks of the National Audit Department are performed smoothly and in order, the deputy auditor-general (performance) will perform the tasks of the auditor-general,” he said.
“Apart from that, tasks in relation to audits of finance and administration will be handled respectively by the deputy auditor-general (finance) and deputy auditor-general (administration). Meanwhile, tasks of management will be handled by the director of the management sector,” he added.
Nik Azman said they were to start on the assigned tasks today, on top of their present responsibilities.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) revealed that one of the attendees of the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday had tested positive for Covid-19.
Subsequently, all attendees of the meeting, including Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, were instructed to test for the virus, and to self-quarantine for the following 14 days.
