PETALING JAYA (Dec 3): A one-way system will be implemented in Batu Lancang to ease traffic flow.
The Star reports that the proposal had been approved at the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) meeting, and it involved Lorong Hijau 2, Lorong Hijau 3 and Lorong Hijau 4.
MBPP councillor Nicholas Theng Jie Wey was quoted as saying that a three-month trial period would be implemented before the one-way system was enforced permanently.
“We are still waiting for completion of road works like road widening and infrastructure upgrade.
“We also need to discuss further before we decide when to try out the traffic conversion,” he was quoted by the daily as saying.
Lorong Hijau 2 will be converted to a one-way road, from Taman Hijau 3 heading to Jalan Sir Ibrahim.
Lorong Hijau 3, will also be one-way, from Jalan Sir Ibrahim to Taman Hijau 3 and Lorong Hijau 4, from Taman Hijau 3 to Jalan Sir Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said that the council had received 536 complaints via its WhatsApp number 016-200 4082.
“Response has been good since the launch and complaints through our other platforms have also decreased.
“We hope the public can continue to use WhatsApp to tell us their complaints and problems.
“It is also in line with the technological trend today, as we can shorten the response time,” he said after the council meeting.
There are 15 channels for the public to lodge reports, including web forms, websites, telephone calls, emails and letters.
